Gold Rush author Jim Holliday Speaks on Few Women, Fewer Rules: California's Wild Men and the State They Formed.
The relative absence of the fairer sex - coupled with lots of money and no societal rules telling them to behave - made men go wild in California. Step back in time 100 years into the tin-paneled Opera House, and hear master historian Jim Holliday regale us with ribald tales of the wild times spawned by the Gold Rush... It put its stamp on us for good - we're still willing to take incredible risks, make and lose fortunes, and get a little
wilder than our neighbors in other Western states.
